Meta Changes and How it Impacts Your Business

If you previously used Business Manager, you may notice a change in your desktop experience to Meta Business Suite. Meta Business Suite lets you manage your business across Facebook and Instagram in one place. It offers a variety of tools that can help you manage your business presence online and reach more customers. It can also pose serious challenges for your business if your Meta Business Suite is not set up correctly.

Here are 8 Steps to Avoid Losing Your Facebook and Instagram Pages.

1. Set Up your Meta Business Suite Correctly

The Business Page and Suite must be assigned to an active Facebook profile, not a duplicate or business email profile.  Using duplicated Facebook profiles is risky because these accounts can be disabled, then banned by the system.

Also, set up your Meta Business Suite with your own company and then share privileges with outside sources.  Allowing an agency to set up the business side for you under their personal information incorrectly or taking ownership is risky. Any agency that wants to set up Meta Business Suite under their brand’s assets is a partnership you want to avoid.

2. Add Two Admins to your Business Suite

It is important to have more than one admin assigned to your Business Suite in case one person gets disabled, loses access, or no longer works for your business.

Note that the Business Page and Business Suite must be assigned to an active Facebook profile and not a duplicate or business email profile (See tip #1).

Only add admins you trust and can easily contact.  Adding your entire team as admins can be problematic if employees leave or don’t know how to manage your assets.  Business Suite provides you the ability to add an employee access level to help you avoid an account being lost, removed, or stolen.

3. Connect all your meta platform assets to the Business Suite

Every Business page has to be attached to a Meta Business Suite. Keep in mind that the Business Manager is the tool that houses all the individual assets.  Think of Meta Business Suite as the suitcase to your business assets, which are the different items inside.  Best practice is to keep all your business assets, Facebook Page, Instagram Page, Pixel, Product Catalogs, etc. inside and connected to your Meta Business Suite.

When your assets are connected to your business suite then you have the ability to easily give anyone on your team permission to use them.

4. Share assets through partner connections with agencies and other vendors

Meta Business Suite has an expansive tool set to help optimize your business management on social media and beyond.  If you hire an agency or want to work with a 3rd-party, then sharing your assets through the Partner option of Meta Business Suite is the best solution.  This allows you to retain ownership of the asset and solicit their help.

This best practice is great with social partner connections, partners can run creative suite for cross-posting on Facebook and Instagram.

5. Complete all the necessary security center steps for verification

Two-factor authentication is becoming more important and a necessary evil for your account. We recommend you download an authenticator app and connect it to your business suite. Read more about authentication here.

6. Wait to add a payment method

Don’t create or add a credit card to an ad account until you’re ready to start running ads. Adding a credit card prematurely can signal an error to your account and restrict you from adding a payment method to your account. Also, keep in mind that if you go 60 days without adding a credit card to your ad account it will be disabled.

7. Consider the Top Tools that your account uses

There are hundreds of tools across the Meta system your company can use and is already probably using.  Some common ones are Facebook Pages, Instagram  Pages, Ads Manager, Creative Suite, and Commerce Product Catalogs.

Each tool contains its own unique set of challenges and ways to plug into Meta Business Suite.  Understand how each one of these tools connects to properly set up the item.  Accounts with overly redundant items like Pixels, Ads Accounts, and Product Catalogs find themselves disabled or in disrepair sooner than later.

Set up correctly this tool suite turns into a huge boost for your business and its productivity.  Work with an agency or individual that knows how to sync these items and put your teams Meta assets on the right track.

8. Review Account Quality

Account Quality is one of the underrated most misused tools in the Meta arsenal.  It’s also one of the most annoying for access and management use.  Think of Meta’s Account Quality tool as a thermometer of how well you’re following rules and policies on the platform.  Sleeping on your rating can get your account disabled very quickly.

If you’re running into trouble with your account access and productivity we suggest you review the Account Quality tool in your settings in the Meta Business Suite.  You’ll find which ads are violating policy and if your personal account is connected correctly to your company’s business suite.  Frequently after reviewing Account Quality, you find a simple change like switching to two-factor authentication the solution to why your account is disabled.

9. Connect with Facebook support

If all else fails try to connect with Facebook support. How you can connect depends on your relationship with Meta.  Spending money in Ads Manager is the fastest way to receive quick support.

The best way to submit a help ticket is through their chat support for any issues with your account. If you’re not running ads, you will likely only receive email support.  This can take a few days and is a much slower option than directly reaching out via Messenger.
